Successful Technology Development at Stennis Space Center
The goal of the Innovative Partnerships Program is the development of technologies to meet the needs of the NASA mission at Stennis Space Center. When technologies developed at Stennis Space Center are successful, there are several methods to inform the public about these successes.
Success Stories
One mission of the Innovative Partnerships Program at Stennis Space Center is to assist the development, transfer and commercialization of technologies into the private sector. Whether this is through a SBIR/STTR contract, a license of a NASA technology, or a Dual-Use Cooperative Agreement project with a company, the ultimate goal is to develop a successful technology.
When a technology has been determined to be successful, a brief report of the success is written on the success of the technology. These reports are normally identified by the type of program used to develop the technology such as SBIR/STTR, License Agreements, or Dual Use Projects.
TechBrief Articles
Another method of documenting the success of a technology is to publish an article about the technology in NASA TechBrief. Each year, several articles are published on SSC Technologies.
In addition to publication in NASA TechBrief, there are several other methods used to report the success of technology development such as Spinoff and Innovation magazines.
Spinoffs - For more than 30 years, the secondary use of NASA technology and its impact on the economy and global competition has been facilitated through NASA's Commercial Technology Program. This mechanism is employed to transfer new technologies developed in the course of NASA activities to the public and private sector. Such wide distribution and outreach activities result in private industry's application of NASA-generated technology. Frequently this leads to the development of commercially available products and services (spinoffs). Spinoff captures between 40 and 50 of these success stories annually.
Innovation - Aerospace Technology Innovation - A bi-monthly publication of the Commercial Technology Division at NASA Headquarters. Your source for information on NASA projects and opportunities in the areas of technology transfer/commercialization, aerospace technology development and the commercial development of space.
