Small Business Technology Transfer Program

The Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program at Stennis Space Center awards contracts to small business concerns for cooperative research and development with a research institution. Though modeled after the SBIR Program, the STTR differs in that the technical scope is limited, and proposals must be from teams of small businesses and non-profit research institutions that will conduct joint research. The goal of the NASA STTR Program is to transfer technology developed by universities and federal labs into the private marketplace through the entrepreneurship of a small business. Phase I STTR projects receive up to $100,000 in funds for a one-year effort. Phase II is limited to $600,000 for two years.

Stennis Space Center had the following topic areas in the 2006 STTR Solicitation:

Topic T9.01 - Rocket Propulsion Testing Systems

Topic T9.02 -Field Sensors, Instruments, and Related Technologies

This Topic is subject to change each year based on the current needs projected by NASA.

The projected schedule for the upcoming 2007 Solicitation is:

  • July 6, 2007/September 6, 2007 - Open/Close Date for 2007 Solicitation
  • November 6, 2007 to November 16, 2007 - SBIR/STTR 2007 Phase I Selection Announcement

Companies may contact and interact with Center representatives to discuss the subtopic until the Solicitation is open to the public in July 6, 2007.

To speak with a NASA representative about the possible Stennis Space Center STTR 2007 Topic, contact the Stennis SBIR/STTR office at (228) 688-1929, or via e-mail at SSC-technology@nasa.gov.
